The coach who oversaw the return of the delegation from the Australian Open did not return to Ukraine.


The coach of the Ukrainian tennis team did not return to Ukraine
Alexander Tomarev, the coach of the Ukrainian tennis team, who left the country by order of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Ukraine, did not return to Ukraine, as reported by Tribuna.com.
Alexander Tomarev left Ukraine on January 6, 2024, for the Australian Open, where he competed with the team. He held a training camp from January 6 to February 2.
The coach did not return to Ukraine and was selected for the Ukrainian national tennis team for training three more times – from February 28 to April 5 in the USA and from April 16 to May 18 in Poland.
After that, he sought financial support for refugees from Ukraine and worked with the team of Russian tennis player Daria Kasatkina. He was part of her team at the WTA tournament in Wuhan in October 2024.
By order of the Ministry of Sports, Tomarev was responsible 'for ensuring the participation of athletes... and for the return of the official delegation of the national tennis team of Ukraine to Ukraine'
The Ministry of Sports responded to Tribuna.com’s inquiry regarding Tomarev: 'Members of the delegation who left the country according to personal confirmations of return to Ukraine returned to Ukraine. The necessary reports and conclusions on the results of participation in the competition were provided in a timely manner.'
World boxing champion Vasyl Lomachenko made an anti-Ukrainian post in which he criticized the Orthodox Church of Ukraine and accused it of violence and hatred towards other religions.
