Illegal Sales of Arms and Explosives
According to Novyny.live: Three military personnel are under suspicion for unlawfully selling weapons and explosives in the Kharkiv region. Law enforcement officials have formally charged the individuals with illegal handling of firearms and explosive materials. The suspects' actions are being prosecuted under Article 28, Part 2, and Article 263, Part 1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The group was caught while carrying out another illicit transaction. During the investigation, authorities confiscated a massive cache of munitions, including:
- over 700 rounds of ammunition;
- four anti-tank weapons;
- nearly 1.2 tons of explosive substances.
The total value of the illegal sales exceeded 2 million Ukrainian hryvnias.
A court has imposed preventive measures on two of the suspects, ordering them into custody with the option of posting bail, while the third has been placed under round-the-clock house arrest. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to uncover all details of the case.
This incident highlights ongoing challenges in controlling the flow of weapons in Ukraine, particularly amid the prolonged conflict in the region.
The illegal arms trade poses a serious threat not only to public safety but also to the overall stability of the country. Prosecuting such cases is a critical step in combating criminal activities that endanger public order.
