Hamas Receives Trump's Plan: Ceasefire in Gaza Will Begin Immediately

According to The Sun: US President Donald Trump announced that a ceasefire and the release of hostages will take place 'immediately' as soon as Hamas agrees to a partial withdrawal of Israeli troops from Gaza.

Trump noted that Tel Aviv has agreed to the initial withdrawal line proposed by Hamas, and the peace process will begin as soon as the terrorist group accepts this proposal.

Trump wrote on the Truth Social platform:

“After negotiations, Israel has agreed to the initial withdrawal line that we showed and shared with Hamas.”

He also noted:

“When Hamas confirms, the ceasefire will take effect, the hostage exchange will begin, and we will create the conditions for the next stage of withdrawal, bringing us closer to the end of this 3,000-year catastrophe.”

Hamas previously rejected a phased withdrawal of Israeli troops, insisting on an immediate and complete withdrawal.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Netanyahu promised to bring back all hostages “in the coming days.”

In a televised address, Netanyahu stated that he hopes to return hostages “in the coming days,” emphasizing that “military and diplomatic pressure” forced Hamas to agree to their release.

Netanyahu added:

“Hamas will release all our hostages, including those who are alive and those who are dead,”
stressing the hope of returning them for the Jewish celebration of Sukkot.

He also stated that the demilitarization of Gaza is an essential part of the plan:

“Hamas will be disarmed, and Gaza will be demilitarized – either simply or in a complicated way, but it will happen,”
he said in his speech.

A senior Hamas representative, Musa Abu Marzuk, told Al Jazeera that the group will not disarm until the Israeli “occupation” is over.

Last night, the US president made a request to Israel to “stop bombing Gaza” in response to Hamas's statement about the release of remains of Israeli hostages — including those who have died.

The Israeli military stated that they will limit their operations in Gaza.

Netanyahu promised to implement the first phase of Trump's peace plan, which includes a suspension of bombings and the release of 1,950 Palestinians.

Two representatives of President Trump traveled to Egypt on Saturday to discuss the release of hostages in Gaza.

Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner and envoy Steve Witkoff aimed to coordinate the details of the release of hostages and discuss the deal that Trump advanced to conclude nearly two years of war between Israel and Hamas.

Hamas and Israel will hold indirect negotiations in Cairo on Sunday and Monday to secure the release of hostages and detainees.

According to Egyptian media reports, delegations “began to move to initiate negotiations in Cairo tomorrow and the day after to discuss organizing conditions for the exchange of all detainees according to Trump's proposals.”

However, much could still go wrong. It is known that Hamas did not agree to the peace plan, stating that it wants to be part of the government after the war.

The 20-point peace plan proposes an immediate cessation of hostilities and the release of Hamas hostages and remains considered dead within 72 hours.

In exchange for this, nearly 2,000 Palestinians will be released from Israeli prisons.

The political leadership of Hamas, based in Qatar, is willing to consider it, but with amendments.

Although they have not managed to maintain control of the situation, as they do not have power over Israeli hostages, whose status plays a significant role in the agreement.

Hamas demands that the future of Gaza be discussed within a comprehensive Palestinian national framework, in which Hamas will participate.

However, Trump rejected this, and Israel stated that the terrorist group cannot remain in power to achieve peace.

Hamas stated that it is ready to “hand over the administration of Gaza to a Palestinian body of independent experts (technocrats), based on Palestinian national consensus and supported by Arab and Islamic backing.”

Earlier, they offered to release all hostages and transfer the administration of Gaza to another body.

Israel has already supported Trump's peace plan, which includes an immediate ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and the disarmament of Hamas.

A successful ceasefire could pave the way for the release of 48 hostages — of whom only 20 are believed to be alive — from the tunnels of Gaza's terrorists after two years of horror.

A temporary ceasefire could also allow for heavy humanitarian aid to reach the coastal region, where Hamas reports that over 66,000 Palestinians have died during the fighting.

A new “Peace Committee,” headed by the US president along with former UK prime minister Tony Blair, will be established to restore the region before handing over responsibility to peace-loving Palestinians.

Earlier this week, a senior Hamas military commander in Gaza, Izzadin al-Haddad, told the BBC that Trump's plan “serves Israel's interests and ignores the interests of the Palestinian people.”

20-Point Trump Peace Plan

  • 1. Gaza will become a terrorism-free zone that poses no threat to its neighbors.
  • 2. Gaza will be rebuilt for the benefit of its residents who have suffered enough.
  • 3. If both sides agree to this proposal, the war will end immediately. Israeli troops will withdraw to an agreed line in preparation for the release of hostages. At this time, all military operations will be suspended, and combat lines will remain frozen until conditions for full withdrawal are met.
  • 4. Within 72 hours of public acceptance of this agreement by Israel, all hostages, both alive and dead, will be returned.
  • 5. Following the release of all hostages, Israel will release 250 life-sentenced individuals and 1,700 Palestinians detained after October 7, 2023, including all women and children detained in this context. For each Israeli hostage whose remains are released, Israel will return the remains of 15 deceased Gazans.
  • 6. After the return of all hostages, Hamas members who commit to peaceful coexistence and disarmament will receive amnesty. Hamas members wishing to leave Gaza will be granted safe passage to accepting countries.
  • 7. Following the acceptance of this agreement, humanitarian aid will be immediately directed to Gaza. At a minimum, aid levels will match what was included in the January 19, 2025 agreement regarding humanitarian assistance, including infrastructure restoration (water, electricity, sewage), hospitals and bakery restoration, as well as necessary equipment for rubble clearance and road opening.
  • 8. The distribution of aid into Gaza will occur without interference from either side through the UN and its agencies, the Red Crescent, and other international institutions unrelated to either side. The opening of the Rafah crossing in both directions will be subject to the same mechanism that was implemented in the January 19, 2025 agreement.
  • 9. Gaza will be governed by a temporary transitional government of an apolitical Palestinian committee responsible for the daily administration of Gaza. This committee will consist of qualified Palestinians and international experts, with oversight and supervision from a new international transitional body, the “Peace Committee,” which will be chaired and led by President Donald J. Trump, along with members and leaders of states to be announced later, including former Prime Minister of the UK Tony Blair. This body will define the framework and oversee funding for the reconstruction of Gaza until the Palestinian Authority completes its reform program.
  • 10. A Trump economic plan will be developed to restore and revitalize Gaza through the convening of a group of experts who helped create some of the modern marvel cities in the Middle East. Many thoughtful investment proposals and exciting development ideas will be considered to create security and governance that attract and facilitate investments that create jobs, opportunities, and hope for the future Gaza.
  • 11. A special economic zone will be created with preferential tariffs and terms of access for participating countries.
  • 12. No one will be forced to leave Gaza, and those who wish to leave will be able to do so freely and return freely. We will encourage people to remain and provide them with the opportunity to build a better Gaza.
  • 13. Hamas and other factions agree to have no role in the governance of Gaza, either directly or indirectly, or in any form. All military, terrorist, and attacking infrastructure, including tunnels and weapons manufacturing, will be destroyed and will not be rebuilt. Gaza will undergo a demilitarization process under independent monitors, which will include disarmament according to an agreed order and will be supported by an internationally funded buyout and reintegration program verified by independent monitors. New Gaza will be fully committed to creating a thriving economy and peaceful coexistence with its neighbors.
  • 14. Regional partners will provide guarantees to ensure Hamas's compliance with its commitments that New Gaza will not pose a threat to its neighbors and its own people.
  • 15. The United States will work with Arab and international partners to establish temporary international stabilization forces (ISF) that will be urgently sent to Gaza. ISF will train and support vetted Palestinian police forces in Gaza, and consult with Jordan and Egypt, which have extensive experience in this area.
  • 16. Israel will not occupy or annex Gaza. As control and stability are established with ISF, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will withdraw their troops based on standards, checkpoints, and timelines agreed upon between the IDF, ISF, guarantees, and the United States. As a result, IDF will gradually transfer the territory of Gaza that they occupy to ISF in accordance with the agreement they will conclude with the transitional authorities until they are fully withdrawn from Gaza, except for the security perimeter.
  • 17. If Hamas delays or rejects this proposal, all of the above, including enhanced humanitarian actions, will continue in non-terrorist zones transferred from IDF to ISF.
  • 18. A process of interfaith dialogue will be established based on the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence to change the mindsets and narratives of Palestinians and Israelis, highlighting the benefits that can be gained from peace.
  • 19. As the restoration of Gaza continues and when the PA reform program is fulfilled, conditions may ultimately be created for a reliable path to Palestinian self-determination and statehood, which we recognize as the aspiration of the Palestinian people.
  • 20. The United States will establish a dialogue between Israel and the Palestinians to agree on a political horizon for peaceful and prosperous coexistence.
