Turkey seeks to take control of the strategic T4 airbase in Syria.
The Turkish government has begun the process of gaining control over the Tiyas airbase in Syria, known as T4. The establishment of air defense systems at this base is also planned. Turkey is negotiating with the Syrian government to provide air cover and military support.
The goal of Turkey is to stabilize the situation in Syria and combat the Islamic State. However, the presence of Turkish military in Syria raises concerns in Israel, which sees it as a potential threat. Turkey also plans to create a multi-layered air defense system to protect its interests.
The presence of Turkish air defense systems and drones may deter Israel from conducting airstrikes in this area, where they are actively operating. At the same time, Israel opposes the increasing influence of Turkey in the region.
The Turkish government is also negotiating with the United States regarding the lifting of sanctions that were imposed on them due to the purchase of the Russian S-400 system. Turkey is willing to deactivate or relocate it outside the country.
