Turkey to Increase Gas Imports from the USA: Details of the New Energy Strategy.
According to inkorr.com: Turkey is actively seeking new opportunities to expand its energy supply sources and plans to increase liquefied natural gas imports from the USA. This was stated by Burak Pehlivan, head of the Turkish-Ukrainian Businessmen Association (TUID).
Expanding Energy Supplies
Pehlivan noted that the country is undertaking large-scale work to expand energy supply sources, which is one of the key aspects of its future energy strategy.
'Currently, the country is working seriously to expand energy supply sources. Recent agreements also indicate that Turkey's LNG purchases from the USA are likely to increase in the near future,' he emphasized.
Energy Dependency
Experts emphasize that by purchasing gas and oil from Russia, Turkey has significant energy dependency on this country. Therefore, seeking new suppliers and diversifying supply sources are important tasks for the Turkish government.
Thus, Turkey plans to increase LNG imports from the USA, which is part of the strategy to diversify energy sources. However, the country still remains dependent on Russian energy resources, which forces it to take measures to reduce this dependency.
