Tourists from Kyiv lost on Hoverla: rescuers are already on site.
Tourists from Kyiv got into an unpleasant situation on Hoverla
According to inkorr.com: A couple from Kyiv got lost while descending from Hoverla due to deteriorating weather conditions. This was reported by the State Emergency Service (SES).
The young couple — the guy is 23 years old, the girl is 22 — lost their way on the descent due to unfavorable weather.
Search for tourists
Mountain rescuers quickly established communication with the tourists and found them, providing assistance in difficult conditions. SES emphasized that weather conditions in the mountains can change rapidly, making nighttime travel very risky.
'Climbing mountains at night is very dangerous because there is a risk of getting lost or being injured,' rescuers noted.
Safety recommendations
To enhance safety in the mountains, SES recommends using the 'Rescue in the Mountains' mobile application, which can quickly transmit your coordinates in case of an emergency and provide useful safety tips.
It is also worth noting that two villages in Transcarpathia — Kolichava and Synevyrska Polyana — made it to the world list of 'Best Tourism Villages'. Meanwhile, the air temperature in the Carpathians has dropped to -3°C, and in some mountain peaks, the snow thickness reaches 80 cm.
The incident with tourists on Hoverla once again confirms the importance of caution and thorough preparation before hiking in the mountains, as well as the use of modern technologies to ensure safety during travels in mountainous regions.
