Tusk announced important statements on the ceasefire in Ukraine.
Poland and Europe will bear greater responsibility for their security regardless of the results of the US presidential elections. This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk.
Tusk stated that declarations regarding the possible date of the ceasefire in Ukraine, the determination of its boundaries, and security guarantees for Kyiv are expected soon. He also commented on the plan of the newly elected US President Donald Trump regarding Ukraine, noting that it may still be under development.
Tusk emphasized that "decisions regarding the war in Ukraine cannot only be made by Ukrainians, but also by us," and added that these decisions will involve less US intervention in Ukrainian affairs.
The President of Poland noted that the country is a leader in providing military and humanitarian aid relative to its GDP. Overall, Poland has provided 3.23 billion euros of aid, which constitutes 4.91% of the country's GDP. Of this amount, 0.71% of GDP was directed to support Ukraine, and 4.2% was for assisting refugees.
