In Kyiv, a new traffic light signal is being tested: what is the 'Greek Cross'.
A new traffic light solution in Kyiv
According to inkorr.com: From November 11, an innovative traffic light signal 'Greek Cross' will be introduced at the intersection of Volodymyrska Street and Taras Shevchenko Boulevard in Kyiv. This innovation aims to enhance the safety of drivers, especially during left turns, using European experience in traffic organization.
The traffic light with the 'Greek Cross' includes an additional section with a red signal in the form of an equilateral cross, allowing drivers to safely make left turns. This signal does not block traffic; on the contrary, it draws attention to the possibility of maneuvering by temporarily stopping the vehicles moving in the opposite direction.
The testing of the new system will last for two months, after which the effectiveness of this innovation will be evaluated. We remind drivers to adhere to traffic rules and carefully follow the traffic light signals to ensure their safety on the road.
The introduction of the 'Greek Cross' traffic light signal is expected to be an important step in improving road safety in the capital. It is anticipated that such innovations will not only reduce the number of traffic accidents but also enhance driver comfort while traveling through the city. We hope for positive results from the testing of this new system.
