Chinese scientists have unveiled a new hypersonic engine that allows aircraft to reach speeds of up to 20,000 km/h.
This engine has two operational modes. After achieving a speed of 7 Mach (approximately 8575 km/h) using rotational detonation for maximum energy efficiency, it switches to a tilted detonation mode that enhances stability and performance. The idea of using this engine in civil and military aviation is very appealing. However, it is still necessary to confirm its effectiveness in practice and resolve technical and financial issues.
Prospects for Use
Thanks to this technology, a flight from Paris to New York could take only about two hours, which is a tremendous achievement.
In short, Chinese scientists have developed a hypersonic engine that could change perceptions of speed and open up new possibilities for aviation.
