Amazon CEO warns of mass layoffs at the company due to AI development.
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy warned his employees that due to the widespread use of artificial intelligence in the company, jobs will be cut. He urged everyone to take an interest in new technologies and use them to improve productivity. According to him, the number of Amazon employees will decrease in the near future as AI allows for the automation of routine processes.
'We will need fewer people for some tasks and more for others,' - said Andy Jassy.
There are over 1.5 million people working at the corporation, of which about 350 thousand work in the office. Artificial intelligence is already being used in many departments for content creation, planning, and order processing. Approximately 500 thousand sellers on Amazon platforms are already using AI-based tools for various purposes.
The popularity of using artificial intelligence is growing; however, experts in this field may lose their jobs. In addition, Amazon has received permission to deliver goods using drones.
