In Norway, on the roof of the Ullevaal football stadium, specialists from Over Easy Solar installed the world's largest vertical solar power plant. It has a peak capacity of 248 kilowatts, and installation took only a few days, which is significantly faster compared to other power plants. It is expected that this power plant will produce 219 thousand kWh of energy annually.
Vertical solar panels are installed much more easily than horizontal ones. Over Easy Solar has reduced the panel size, which allowed to reduce the overall weight of the station to 11 kg per square meter. This allows such panels to be installed on various sites, including the roofs of football stadiums.
The new vertical solar power plant consists of 1242 blocks of 200 watts each and is located on an area of 2500 sq. m. The panels are oriented at an angle of 20 degrees east from south to ensure even distribution of energy with greater output in winter. According to Over Easy Solar, vertical solar panels can have 20-30% higher profitability than traditional flat panels.
According to a new report by the International Energy Agency, energy demand in 2024 and 2025 will be at one of the highest levels in the past two decades. It is expected that the solar photovoltaic system will meet half the demand growth.
