Ukrainian kopeck will disappear: what will replace it in 2025.
According to inkorr.com: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has registered a draft law proposing to change the name of the kopeck to 'shag'. This initiative aims to reduce the influence of Soviet heritage on the Ukrainian monetary system and restore national traditions.
According to the explanations of the draft law, the new name 'shag' is intended to complete the monetary reform that began in 1996 and revive national traditions in the financial sphere.
Another draft law provides for changes to the Tax Code for appropriate adaptation to the new name of the coin. The National Bank of Ukraine is also preparing for significant changes in money transfers from 2025 to enhance the transparency and efficiency of financial operations.
