Ethnic-based riots in Korkino
In the city of Korkino, located near Chelyabinsk, there were mass riots on ethnic grounds, during which dozens of people were detained. The cause of the conflict escalation was the murder of a local resident who worked in a taxi. Residents of Korkino believe that the murder was committed by two Romani people who came to the city. People gathered near the house belonging to representatives of the Romani diaspora and then organized a riot. The house was pelted with stones and bottles with incendiary mixture. Police arrived at the scene and surrounded the house, pushing back the crowd. After this, groups of individuals dispersed around the city and set fire to two more houses and several cars belonging to the Romani. The governor of the region sent all available forces to Korkino to conduct operational actions to stop the conflict. The detained individuals were taken to police stations.
However, the investigation noted that the involvement of an eleven-year-old teenager in the crime has not yet been confirmed. Ukrainian intelligence warned of the preparation of provocation rallies in Ukrainian cities aiming to discredit the military-political leadership and special services of the country.
