In Ukrainian schools, all students will be prepared for military service regardless of gender.

"Defense of Ukraine" lessons for 10th-11th grade students will be conducted in groups regardless of students' gender
The Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has made significant changes to the teaching of the "Defense of Ukraine" subject for 10th-11th grade students. Now students will be divided into groups of 8-15 people, regardless of gender.
This was reported by the Judicial-Legal Gazette.
This change is part of a broader initiative to modernize youth training for possible military service, which complies with the new law passed by the Verkhovna Rada.
The new program, which will be implemented from 2024 to 2026, aims to strengthen the practical aspect of training and form the basic skills of self-defense and defensive awareness in students. It consists of 10 modules, including a wide range of modern military and civilian skills, such as medical aid, drone management, tactical medicine, and radio communication.
In educational institutions, both boys and girls will be prepared for military service.
An important novelty is the change in the class schedule from traditional 45-minute weekly lessons to intensive one-day sessions monthly. Special training centers are being created to implement this approach, bringing together students from different schools. This will allow more effective organization of practical lessons and provide access to modern equipment for all students.
The Ministry of Education and Science emphasizes that these changes are aimed at improving the quality and efficiency of training, as well as adapting the educational process to the realities of wartime. It is planned that from 2027 the updated "Defense of Ukraine" program will become the basis for specialized study, where students can choose individual modules for in-depth learning.
