According to Espreso.tv: In May 2023, the Ukrainian Air Force reported an unprecedented surge in hostile aerial activity, with the enemy deploying 8,351 airborne attack systems. This marked a sharp increase from April, which saw approximately 6,700 such systems. Ukraine's air defense network successfully intercepted 7,588 drones and missiles, demonstrating a high level of protective effectiveness.
Interception Statistics
According to the data, May saw the launch of 8,150 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), of which 7,476 were intercepted, achieving a drone interception rate of 91.73%. Regarding missiles, 211 cruise and ballistic missiles were launched, with 112 successfully intercepted, yielding a missile interception rate exceeding 53%. The overall interception rate for aerial targets during mass strikes reached 90.75%.
One of the most notable events in May was a large-scale attack that began on the night of May 13 and lasted over 30 hours. During this assault, the enemy deployed 1,567 drones and 56 missiles of various types. The interception rate for drones in this attack reached 93%, while for missiles it stood at 72%. The May attacks resulted in the destruction of a significant number of missiles, including:
- 2 Kh-47 M2 'Kinzhal' aeroballistic missiles
- 50 Kh-101 cruise missiles
- 10 'Iskander-M/KN-23' ballistic missiles
- 11 'Kalibr' cruise missiles
- 14 Kh-59/69 guided air-launched missiles
- 24 'Iskander-K' cruise missiles
