The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has decided to postpone the mandatory title defense of the absolute world champion in the heavyweight division Oleksandr Usyk against interim champion Joseph Parker. This decision was made following a request from the Ukrainian boxer himself, who had health issues after previous fights.
Oleksandr Usyk explained his request to postpone the fight due to recovery from injury and tough bouts, including after his victory over Daniel Dubois.
Now the teams of the boxers have more time to plan the bout, but the exact date of the fight has not yet been specified. If a decision is made to refuse the bout, Oleksandr Usyk may lose the title, and Joseph Parker will become the full champion.
As this news indicates, the world boxing organization granted Usyk a postponement regarding the title defense due to his injuries and condition after previous fights. This allows him to recover and prepare for the upcoming bout with Parker.Read also
