The Armed Forces of Ukraine identified the disadvantages of fiber-optic drones.
In the 'Khortytsia' military group, it was stated that unmanned aerial vehicles operating on fiber optics have their limitations, preventing their full use on the front line. They are heavier and less fast compared to other drones, but their main advantage is resistance to electronic warfare means. However, these drones often malfunction due to the nature of their cable, and they require a different level of piloting. Due to high failure rates and pilot demands, such drones are not a universal solution in any situation.
With the arrival of spring and the appearance of vegetation, the war will become more unpredictable, as it will be easier for groups to hide in the terrain. This applies not only to fiber-optic drone operators but also to regular drones. There will be more secret movements of people and equipment, more concealed positions, and attacks from unexpected directions.
