UEFA has launched an investigation into the referee who insulted Liverpool and coach Klopp.
The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has launched an investigation into English referee David Coote for an alleged violation of the disciplinary regulations.
The association has appointed an ethics and disciplinary inspector to assess the potential misconduct by Coote. Further information on this matter will be provided in due course, UEFA stated.
Earlier, a video circulated online showing a man resembling Coote calling Liverpool 'garbage' and accusing the team’s coach Jurgen Klopp of lying and calling him a 'arrogant fool' after he criticized the referee.
According to media reports, UEFA has suspended the referee from officiating matches under its auspices.
Earlier, the English Professional Game Match Officials Limited suspended Coote until the investigation is completed.
David Coote is 42 years old. In February 2023, he officiated the final of the English Football League Cup between Manchester United and Newcastle (2:0).

Recall that Swiss youth national team player Silvan Wallner ended his playing career at the age of 22 for religious reasons.
The 22-year-old central defender of the team Blau-Weiss Linz from the Austrian Bundesliga announced his retirement from professional football. The decision came as a surprise given his age. In January 2025, Wallner will only be 23 years old.
The reason for such a step was a religious factor. Wallner is a follower of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, which strictly adheres to the prohibition of work on Saturday, a sacred day according to their faith. Since most matches in the Austrian Bundesliga are held on Saturdays, the footballer decided to end his professional career.
Wallner is a graduate of Swiss Zurich. He has been called up to the Swiss youth national teams U17 and U18. In the summer of 2024, he moved to Blau-Weiss Linz for 200,000 euros from Zurich. At his new club, he managed to play 13 matches.
