UEFA has changed the kick-off time for the Champions League finals.
UEFA has changed the schedule for the start of Champions League matches
According to inkorr.com: The decisive matches of the tournament will now take place at 18:00 Central European Time (19:00 Kyiv time). Previously, the final matches were held at 22:00 Kyiv time.
In its statement, UEFA notes that these changes have been implemented to facilitate the participation of fans, teams, and host cities. This will also help attract a larger audience, especially young people, due to improved transportation for spectators from other locations.
“We aim to enhance the overall experience for fans, teams, and cities on match days by optimizing logistics and operations. Our goal is to make the match day truly enjoyable for everyone wishing to participate in this event and to create a comfortable atmosphere that allows families and children to attend the biggest and most important matches of the club season.”
Moreover, the hosts of the playoff matches will now depend on the teams’ results in previous stages, which will highlight the importance of positions in the overall standings. This rule applies to all three European cups and will take into account the geographical locations of the clubs.
“For example, in last season's quarter-finals, 'Arsenal', which was in third place in the overall standings, faced 'Real', which occupied the 11th position. If 'Real' had won, the venue for the next matches would have been determined had the Madrid club been in third place.”
UEFA is confident that these changes will make the tournament more exciting for fans, teams, and television viewers worldwide.
Changes to the Champions League match schedule are aimed at making participation in the tournament more accessible to a wide audience, which may positively impact stadium attendance and overall interest in the competitions.
