Targeting Key Infrastructure Inside Russia

According to UATV: Ukraine’s defense forces are now hitting vital sites on Russian soil, signaling a major leap in the military’s capabilities. Lieutenant General Ihor Romanenko, founder of the charity fund 'Close the Sky Over Ukraine,' discussed this preemptive strike strategy during an interview on the FREEДOM TV channel. He emphasized that Ukrainian strike systems are operating methodically and proactively, rather than reactively.

According to Romanenko, Ukrainian units possess long-range weapons, including drones capable of traveling thousands of kilometers. This enables them to conduct precise attacks on high-value enemy military infrastructure. On March 21, Ukrainian defenders successfully struck several important Russian military targets. The key sites hit include:

  • aviation equipment
  • industrial facilities
  • military training grounds

Data indicates a steady decline in the number of aerial attack assets the enemy can deploy. Previously, Russian forces would launch 500 or more aerial threats, but that number has now dropped to 200–300 drones and just a few dozen missiles. Romanenko argues that this preemptive approach is the most effective, as it clearly demonstrates that Ukraine’s defense forces are growing their offensive punch.

Shifts in Tactical Approaches

These developments highlight evolving tactics on both sides of the conflict, especially regarding the use of modern technology in combat operations. The reduction in Russian aerial targets may reflect the success of Ukraine’s strikes, as well as possible internal challenges within the Russian armed forces. Ukraine’s expanding ability to plan and execute preemptive attacks could significantly reshape the trajectory of the war and the strategic calculations of both parties moving forward.
