Ukraine prepares for the fifth summit of the Crimean Platform: what the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is counting on

According to inkorr.com: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has announced preparations for the fifth summit of the international Crimean Platform, in which many foreign leaders are expected to participate. This was stated by Deputy Foreign Minister Mariana Betza at the fourth international forum of the expert network of the Crimean Platform.

Betza emphasized that the issue of Crimea is gaining particular significance this year as we celebrate the 80th anniversary of the UN. She noted that the Ukrainian side is aware of the need to draw the world's attention more actively to the de-occupation of Crimea. 'Every year we promote a resolution on human rights in temporarily occupied territories within the framework of the UN General Assembly. This year, we will also promote this as much as possible,' said the deputy minister.

Speaking about preparations for the fifth summit, Betza emphasized its importance, without specifying the date of the event. 'We are also preparing for the 5th summit of the international Crimean Platform, and it will be an important summit. We hope that many foreign leaders will attend,' she said.

She also noted that the issue of Crimea is key in the context of the current Russian aggression and emphasized the importance of recognizing the deportation of Crimean Tatars as genocide. 'This is extremely important because it is also about crimes and about restoring justice,' Betza added.

The diplomat expressed gratitude to parliamentarians from several European countries for their support in recognizing historical crimes against the Crimean Tatar people. 'I want to thank the parliamentarians of Poland, Estonia, the Czech Republic, and the Netherlands for their respective decisions to recognize the Stalinist deportation as genocide against the Crimean Tatar people,' Betza said.

The Role of the Crimean Platform

The Crimean Platform serves as an important international mechanism that unites the efforts of the world community in countering the Russian occupation of Crimea and coordinating actions for the return of the peninsula under Ukraine's control.

Ukraine is currently actively preparing for the fifth summit of the international Crimean Platform, where the issues of the occupation of Crimea and the need to recognize the deportation of the Crimean Tatars as genocide will be discussed. The Ukrainian side aims to draw the international community's attention to these important issues through the UN and in cooperation with other countries and partners.
