Operation 'Auchan'

According to Espreso.tv: Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced the successful execution of a military operation codenamed 'Auchan.' Over the course of two phases, the Defense Forces hit 1,180 enemy targets, with 949 of those destroyed within just three days. The operation relied on new types of munitions, which significantly improved the ability to target and neutralize enemy artillery.

This operation was launched on the orders of the President of Ukraine and approved by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief's Staff. During the first phase, the enemy was forced to pull back a substantial portion of its equipment from the front line. In the second phase, 231 enemy targets were struck, 171 of which were completely eliminated. In total, the two-stage effort resulted in 1,180 enemy targets being taken out by the Defense Forces.

'Every operation like this is not just about destroyed equipment. It means disrupted enemy plans, fewer opportunities for their offensives, and a greater chance to save the lives of our soldiers.' Mykhailo Fedorov

Earlier this year, in April, the Defense Forces also used drones to strike two enemy helicopters on Russian territory.

Why This Operation Matters

Operation 'Auchan' marks a significant step in countering aggression and showcases the growing capabilities of Ukraine's military. The following units took part in the special operation:

  • 412th Separate Unmanned Systems Brigade NEMESIS
  • Special Purpose Unit Lasar's Group of the National Guard

The operation underscores Ukraine's strategic initiative in the ongoing armed conflict and demonstrates the readiness of its forces to deploy cutting-edge technology to enhance security. The success of this mission is likely to influence future military operations, putting additional pressure on the adversary and potentially shifting the dynamics of the conflict. It also highlights the increasing effectiveness of Ukrainian units in utilizing modern strike capabilities.
