Ukraine has joined the Group of Friends on Food Security.
Ukraine has joined the Group of Friends on Food Security in Vienna, as announced by the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the international organizations in Vienna. This initiative is aimed at combating hunger and addressing the challenges of global food stability.
Ukraine has been identified as a key guarantor of global food security and is ready to actively participate in joint efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goal No. 2 'Zero Hunger'.
Representatives noted that this initiative is important, but Russia has not joined it. Instead of contributing to food security, Russians deliberately undermine it and use food as a tool for blackmail and war. The Russian attack on the port in Odesa, where a ship with Ukrainian wheat for Algeria was located, is an example of such destabilization. Ukraine seeks to contribute to the stabilization of the global food market, as it is vulnerable due to the ongoing war against it.
