The Verkhovna Rada has established new quality standards for mobile internet: what will change.
According to inkorr.com: The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted a new law aimed at improving control over the quality of mobile internet and updating the digital infrastructure. The document establishes new standards for mobile operators and introduces mechanisms for public monitoring of services.
The Ministry of Digital Transformation noted that the main goal of the law is to ensure reliable quality of mobile communication for all citizens, regardless of their place of residence. Special attention is paid to accessibility and stability of the internet, particularly in rural and remote areas.
'Our priority is accessible and stable internet for every Ukrainian, even in the most remote settlements.'
Key provisions of the law
Implementation of standardized internet speed indicators. The law establishes minimum requirements for mobile internet speed as a mandatory quality standard for services for the first time. Operators are required to comply with these norms.
Public monitoring of communication quality. Users will be able to independently test the speed and stability of their connection from their smartphones. The obtained data will automatically be sent to the NCCIR for analysis and prompt response to problems.
Cancellation of the moratorium on inspections of operators. The regulator will restore control over compliance with licensing conditions, which encourages mobile operators to actively develop networks, especially in rural areas, and reduce areas without coverage.
Preservation of national roaming after the martial law ends. The mechanism for mutual access to networks of other operators will continue to function to ensure communication in crisis situations.
It is expected that the president will sign this legislative initiative in the coming days, after which it will come into force.
Thus, the adopted law establishes new quality standards for mobile communication in Ukraine. It includes mechanisms for public monitoring, speed parameter definitions, the resumption of operator inspections, and the preservation of national roaming. This step will contribute to improving the accessibility and quality of mobile internet for all Ukrainians, providing equal opportunities for users in different regions of the country.
