Ukrainians in Poland are being denied refugee status en masse: reasons for the decision.
According to inkorr.com: Many people in Ukraine are trying to obtain refugee status in Poland, but most of them face rejections. As reported by the portal 'InPoland', since March 2025, about a thousand Ukrainian citizens have received negative decisions regarding this status. The reasons for the refusals are not disclosed, but it is known that security issues and access to public services are taken into account when considering each application.
The situation with refugees and social assistance
Obtaining refugee status in Poland does not depend on the improvement of the security situation in Ukraine or mobilization. President Navrotsky vetoed amendments to the law that could simplify conditions for Ukrainians. Nevertheless, they continue to remain under the temporary protection defined by the European Council. It is important to note that the requirements for obtaining social assistance in Poland have become more stringent.
Such difficulties in obtaining refugee status indicate that despite the means of support, Ukrainians are facing real challenges in their search for a safe place to live. Meanwhile, the situation with social assistance continues to worsen, threatening the welfare of many refugees.
