Ukrainians are prohibited from collecting firewood in the forest: what fines for violations.
Prohibition on collecting firewood in the forest without a special permit
According to inkorr.com: Collecting firewood in the forest, including deadwood, is prohibited for Ukrainians. Violation of this rule entails fines, reports agronews.ua.
According to the Ukrainian Forest Code, forestry is divided into public and those requiring special permits. Collecting mushrooms, berries, flowers, nuts, and medicinal plants is freely allowed solely for personal use, while to harvest timber, one must have a special logging ticket.
It is prohibited to collect even naturally broken branches or trees downed by bad weather.
Wood plays an important role in the forest ecosystem as it helps retain soil moisture and creates conditions for the development of young plants and other organisms.
Illegal collection of dead timber carries administrative liability according to Article 64 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
The fines for this violation for individuals range from 102 to 238 hryvnias, while for officials - from 170 to 272 hryvnias. If it concerns the felling of a living tree, the sanctions become much harsher: from 510 to 1020 hryvnias for private individuals and from 2550 to 5100 hryvnias for officials.
It was also previously reported about the possibility of receiving assistance for solid fuel up to 20 thousand hryvnias.
Compliance with the prohibition on collecting firewood in the forest without the appropriate document is critically important as violations can lead to severe fines. It is essential to preserve the diversity of forest ecosystems and prevent illegal logging to save natural resources for future generations.
