Mandzyn is in the running for the title of the best biathlete
Ukrainian Vitaliy Mandzyn showcased himself at the first stage of the World Cup in biathlon in Kontiolahti, Finland. According to the International Biathlon Union (IBU), Mandzyn is on the list of candidates for the title of best athlete alongside Julia Tannheimer, Campbell Wright, and Suvi Minkkinen.
Voting for the best biathlete will continue until December 9 at 21:00 Kyiv time. You can vote on the Instagram page and on the official IBU website.
At the first stage of the World Cup, Mandzyn finished fourth in the individual race, showing his best result in his career. He was only preceded by representatives from Norway and was 40 seconds away from the podium.
It is also worth noting that Norwegian biathlete Endre Stromsgard expresses his support for Ukraine by placing the country's flag on his rifle. He has been competing with a blue and yellow scope since the beginning of the World Cup season.
Russian biathletes are also facing a shortage of quality foreign ammunition, which negatively affects their results.
