Ukrainian TV Channels Broaden Their Baltic Audience
According to UATV: Thanks to new agreements with national providers, the Ukrainian channels 'Dim' and 'FREEДОМ' have significantly expanded their broadcast reach across the Baltic states. The state-owned 'Multimedia Platform of International Broadcasting of Ukraine' (MPIU) has taken steps to enhance the international distribution of its channels, granting more viewers in Lithuania and Latvia access to Ukrainian programming. This expansion is part of a broader effort to maintain cultural and informational links with the Ukrainian diaspora abroad.
Partnerships with Local Providers
Deals have been secured with several providers in Lithuania, including:
- Splius
- Etanetas
- Parabolė
Agreements are also in place in Latvia, where they are partnering with:
- Starnet
- Netvision
'Dim' and 'FREEДОМ' are now accessible via satellite broadcast, international OTT platforms, and cable and IPTV networks, offering viewers a wide range of viewing options.
In Lithuania, Splius offers TV services with HD channels and interactive features, while Etanetas and Parabolė also carry the 'Dim' channel. In Latvia, the 'Dim' channel is available through Starnet and Netvision, and is included in Starnet's free channel offerings. This wider broadcast footprint not only increases the presence of Ukrainian media in the region but also helps promote Ukrainian culture and information among Baltic audiences.
The expansion of Ukrainian television in the Baltics underscores the growing influence of Ukraine's media landscape internationally. Given the current situation in Ukraine, access to Ukrainian content abroad is particularly vital for preserving national identity and cultural ties. It also serves to strengthen the information security of Ukrainians residing in Lithuania and Latvia.
