Ukrainian Ski Jumpers Miss Cut for Large Hill Final at Italian Olympics.
Large Hill Ski Jumping Qualification
According to Novyny.live: At the Olympic Games in Italy, Ukrainian ski jumpers Yevhen Marusiak and Vitalii Kalinichenko failed to qualify for the final round in the large hill event. Both athletes delivered respectable performances, but their scores were ultimately insufficient to secure a spot in the decisive jumps. Ski jumping is a highly technical winter sport where distance and style points are combined for a total score.
- Vitalii Kalinichenko landed at 120.5 meters, earning him 103.4 points.
- Yevhen Marusiak achieved a better result, jumping 124.5 meters for a score of 108.6 points.
These results, however, did not place them high enough to advance: Marusiak finished in 42nd position, while Kalinichenko placed 45th.
Upcoming Competitions
The final round for the large hill event is scheduled to begin at 20:57. The last opportunity for the Ukrainian athletes at this tournament will be the team competition, set for February 16.
Despite the disappointing qualification result, both Ukrainian jumpers demonstrated potential that could be realized in future competitions. The Italian Olympics served as a crucial career milestone, providing valuable experience on the world stage. Their upcoming team event on February 16 offers another chance to showcase their skills and aim for improved results.
