Ukrainian Forces Strike and Destroy Russian 'Bastion' Missile System in Crimea.
Ukrainian Defense Forces Operations
According to UATV: On February 23, 2023, Ukrainian forces continued their campaign of strikes against Russian military infrastructure and logistics in the temporarily occupied territories. These operations successfully targeted and neutralized a missile battalion concentration area belonging to Russia's 15th Separate Coastal Missile Brigade of the Black Sea Fleet. This unit was equipped with the advanced 'Bastion' coastal defense missile system, a significant asset for Russian forces in the region.
Attack Results
Over the past day, Ukrainian military action resulted in the elimination of 720 Russian personnel and the destruction of:
- 13 armored vehicles,
- 40 artillery systems,
- 2 multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS).
Other key targets successfully struck included:
- ammunition depots used by Russian forces in Nyzhnia Krynka,
- a material and technical supply warehouse in Velyka Novosilka,
- a command post for enemy assault regiment drones in Pokrovka.
These actions demonstrate the ongoing intensity of Ukraine's defensive campaign against Russian forces on occupied land, aimed at degrading their combat effectiveness. The destruction of high-value assets like the 'Bastion' system and the significant personnel losses inflicted on the enemy can impact the operational situation at the front. This sustained pressure is a critical component of Ukraine's strategy to reclaim its sovereign territory, highlighting the dynamic nature of the conflict beyond the main front lines.
