Massive Drone Assault on Ukraine on March 23
According to UATV: On March 23, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine, deploying 251 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). Among these, approximately 150 were Shahed-type drones. Ukraine's air defense systems proved highly effective, successfully intercepting and destroying 234 of the incoming drones.
Attack Vectors
The assault came from multiple directions, including launches from:
- Bryansk
- Orel
- Kursk
- Millerovo
- Primorsko-Akhtarsk (Russian Federation)
- Hvardiiske (temporarily occupied Crimea)
Strikes were recorded at 11 locations, with debris falling at an additional 8 sites.
This offensive follows a pattern of nightly attacks, with previous strikes on the Sumy, Kyiv, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk regions reported on the night of March 22. As the conflict continues, air defense remains a critical component of Ukraine's territorial protection, especially given the increasing reliance on drone warfare by the opposing side.
The scale of this attack highlights the growing intensity of drone usage by Russian forces. The Ukrainian military's ability to neutralize the vast majority of these threats demonstrates a positive trend in countering aerial dangers, which is vital for safeguarding civilian lives and critical infrastructure.
