Ukraine Targeted by 442 Drones and a Kh-47 Kinzhal Missile: Air Defenses Neutralize 380 UAVs.
Massive Assault on Ukraine on March 29
According to UATV: On March 29, Russian forces launched a large-scale attack against Ukraine, deploying an air-launched ballistic Kh-47 Kinzhal missile along with 442 Shahed-type attack drones. The missile was fired from Russia’s Ryazan region, while the drones originated from multiple Russian cities, including Bryansk, Kursk, Oryol, Millerovo, and Primorsko-Akhtarsk, as well as from occupied areas such as Hvardiiske and Chauda in Crimea.
Approximately 300 of the drones launched were of the Shahed variety. Ukraine’s air defense forces successfully destroyed 380 enemy UAVs. However, 16 strike drones managed to hit seven different locations, and debris from intercepted drones fell across 14 separate sites.
Ukrainian Defense Forces in Action
The following units took part in repelling the assault:
- Aviation units
- Surface-to-air missile troops
- Electronic warfare teams
- Mobile fire groups of Ukraine’s Defense Forces
Additionally, operatives from the 'Atesh' partisan movement destroyed three cell towers inside Russian territory.
This attack highlights Russia’s ongoing aggressive military campaign and its increasing reliance on drone warfare. Although a significant number of enemy UAVs were shot down, the successful strikes on Ukrainian soil underscore the urgent need to further strengthen the country’s air defense systems. The destruction of communication towers by partisan groups also demonstrates their active efforts to disrupt Russian military coordination and logistics.
