Winter taxi rides will become more expensive: what is the reason for the sharp rise in prices.
According to inkorr.com: This winter in Ukraine, an increase in taxi prices is possible, but not due to the rise in fuel costs. The main reason affecting fares is the shortage of drivers. Analysts believe this is already reflected in the cost of rides experienced by city residents.
Decrease in the number of drivers
Experts note that drivers mainly choose gas or diesel, so the rise in gasoline prices does not significantly affect fares. However, the decrease in the number of drivers in the market leads to many vehicles in taxi fleets being idle due to a lack of workers. Additionally, possible blackouts and problems with electricity supply during winter in large cities may also increase taxi prices.
Situation in Kyiv
In Kyiv, there is consideration of allowing taxi work during the curfew, as the demand for taxis increases in difficult conditions.
Clearly, the challenges facing the taxi infrastructure in Ukraine underscore the importance of ensuring an adequate level of service and readiness for emergencies. In conditions of driver shortages, alternative solutions like working during curfews may become a necessary step to provide residents with essential services during the challenging winter period.
