Ukrenergo warned about emergency power cuts in the evening: what to do.
Negative impact of attacks on Ukraine's power system
According to inkorr.com: Chairman of NEC 'Ukrenergo' Vitaliy Zaichenko warned of the likelihood of emergency power outages for households in the evening hours, particularly in the eastern regions of the country. He disclosed this during his speech on the 'Unified News' Marathon.
'Emergency outage schedules are partially applied to household consumers. These restrictions will be in place during the evening peak load period and possibly in the nearest hour in the eastern part of Ukraine,' Zaichenko explained.
Power outages are a result of daily powerful attacks by the enemy on energy facilities. Power reduction schedules have already been introduced for industrial consumers from 7 AM to 10 PM.
Change in enemy tactics
Zaichenko noted that energy workers are observing a change in the tactics of the aggressor concerning Ukraine's power system. Previously, the enemy used massive missile attacks, launching up to 100 missiles simultaneously, but now they have changed their strategy.
'They are destroying entire energy districts — substations, power plants. Thermal power plants, which must provide our consumers with warmth and light during the winter, are suffering tremendously,' said the head of Ukrenergo.
This strategy is referred to as the 'scorched earth' tactic, where energy infrastructure is gradually destroyed, similar to actions on the front lines. Some facilities have already experienced dozens of attacks, but energy workers continue to restore them.
Readiness for the winter period
Speaking about preparations for the winter period, Vitaliy Zaichenko mentioned that the company has completed significant work since 2022. Currently, over 50% of Ukrenergo's transformers have a level of protection capable of withstanding kamikaze drone attacks.
'They are attacked daily by Shaheds and continue to work. Therefore, there is confidence that we will ensure the transmission of electricity,' he stated.
The head of Ukrenergo also urged Ukrainians to pay attention to their energy independence: stock up on power banks, flashlights, and provide backup power for Wi-Fi routers. If possible, it is advisable to install solar panels and batteries.
Energy-saving tips
Vitaliy Zaichenko reminded of important energy-saving rules:
- Do not turn on several powerful electrical appliances at the same time
- Shift high power consumption to daytime or nighttime periods
- Unplug devices that are not in use
- Turn off lights where they are not needed
- Maximize energy efficiency
The Ukrainian energy system is under significant pressure due to daily attacks initiated by the enemy. The war poses a challenge for Ukrenergo to ensure stable electricity supply to consumers. Citizens are urged to use electricity rationally and be prepared for possible restrictions in case of emergencies.
