Ukrzaliznytsia Adds Six New Carriages to Its Passenger Fleet.
Ukraine's Railway Operator Upgrades Its Rolling Stock
According to Novyny.live: In the spring of 2025, Ukrzaliznytsia enhanced its fleet by introducing six new domestically manufactured third-class sleeper carriages. This upgrade is designed to improve passenger comfort and convenience on Ukraine's railways. The national rail service is a critical component of the country's transportation network, especially for long-distance travel.
The new carriages are currently in service on train 21/22, which runs between Lviv and Kramatorsk. A ticket for travel in these upgraded carriages costs 550 hryvnias. This fleet modernization is expected to significantly improve the quality of service for passengers by offering more comfortable travel conditions.
Enhanced Service and Infrastructure Initiatives
In a separate initiative to improve onboard amenities, Ukrzaliznytsia staff distributed 9,107 hot meals over a day and a half as part of the first 'Food Train' service. This demonstrates the company's commitment to enhancing the passenger experience. Furthermore, the interface of the 'UZ Vezemo' booking portal has been updated to simplify the process of purchasing tickets and accessing travel information. These combined efforts highlight Ukrzaliznytsia's active push toward modernizing its services.
The introduction of new carriages and improved services underscores Ukrzaliznytsia's strategy to increase the competitiveness of its offerings within the transport sector. Given the railway's vital role in Ukraine's infrastructure, these changes are likely to help rebuild passenger trust and attract new customers.
