Umerov revealed the details of the negotiations in Istanbul: Russia rejects even the idea of stopping the killings.

Defense Minister Rustem Umerov explained why negotiations with the Russian side on the issue of a ceasefire yielded no results. In particular, it turned out that Russia rejected Ukraine's demand to cease hostilities for 30 days. This indicates that Russia is not even ready to consider the idea of ending the killings.
'Our documents were submitted in advance. In contrast, the 'memorandum' from the Russian Federation only appeared today - during the meeting. This made the meeting ineffective,' the defense minister explained.
However, the negotiations resulted in an agreement for the release of Ukrainians from Russian captivity. The exchange involves the mutual release of the wounded and sick, young soldiers, as well as the return of the bodies of the deceased in a ratio of 6000 to 6000. Additionally, Ukraine provided a list of abducted children for further exchange.
Minister's proposal and possible consequences
Umerov also proposed to organize a meeting of the leaders of the two countries by the end of June, believing that they should resolve the conflict issues themselves. The minister emphasized that if Russia refuses to constructively participate in the negotiations, the world should be ready to impose sanctions that would genuinely negatively affect the country.
The events mentioned in the story indicate the complexity of the negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, but still point out that the parties have managed to make some progress regarding the release of prisoners and the exchange of data lists. At the same Time, the emphasis on the need for tough international sanctions in case of Russia's refusal to continue constructive negotiations indicates the seriousness of the situation and the importance of international support for resolving the conflict.
During ineffective negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, the parties failed to agree on a ceasefire for 30 days. However, an agreement was reached regarding the release of Ukrainians from Russian captivity, indicating certain progress in resolving the conflict. The Defense Minister warned of the imposition of sanctions if Russia refuses to engage in constructive negotiations, which reflects the seriousness of the situation and the existence of alternative paths to resolve the conflict.Read also
