Millions of drivers to receive compensation for car loans: who is eligible.
According to The Sun: Up to 30 million drivers may receive a payment of £950.
Drivers will soon learn details of the long-awaited compensation program for car financing.
PAThe Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) announced its intention to make an announcement today, October 7, in the afternoon.
Information is expected to be available shortly after markets close at 4:00 PM.
This announcement follows FCA's consultations on the reimbursement program for drivers who were wrongly charged additional fees and interest.
Although a recent Supreme Court ruling stated that hidden charges from lenders to dealers were not illegal, millions can no longer submit claims. However, the court noted that compensation may be provided in cases of particularly high fees that were deemed unfair.
The FCA believes that millions of consumers are entitled to compensation in such situations.
For example, drivers who entered into personal contract purchase (PCP) agreements or lease financing may claim compensation.
This is related to the FCA investigation and discussions on the financial reimbursement program that arose up until 2021.
Claims are focused on 'discretionary commission agreements' (DCA), which affected 40% of car financing agreements.
Under DCA, brokers and dealers could raise interest rates without informing borrowers.

Up to 30 million cases may be reviewed for the period from 2007 to 2020, although it is not guaranteed that everyone will receive a payment.
Nikhil Rathi, CEO of the FCA, emphasized that the regulator is consulting on the compensation scheme across the industry, as there is 'evidence of unfair relationships between lenders and consumers.'
He added that 'a significant number of consumers did not receive proper information' about interest rates on their car finance agreements.
Payments may begin as early as the start of next year, with the average compensation amount being £950.
However, the exact amount you may expect to receive will depend on the terms of your loan and the initial value of the car.
HOW TO MAKE A CLAIM
The consumer finance website MoneySavingExpert.com offers a template email for complaints to your financial provider.
It can be downloaded from moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/reclaim-car-finance.
Alternatively, you can submit a complaint without a template.
It is important for anyone who entered into a car finance agreement to make a claim, even if a previous complaint was declined.
In your complaint, ask whether you were overcharged due to your broker receiving a commission, and demand that the company rectify this.
If you are not satisfied with the company's response, you can contact the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) for free.
'I wouldn't want to take this car loan'
ROYE TURNER is one of millions of drivers who may receive financial compensation.
The 57-year-old pizza delivery worker from Tayport bought a BMW 118D in 2016 to help his wife Elaine with her mobility.
He purchased the car for £8,650, but the total loan cost was £9,356, amounting to £17,996 at an annual interest rate of 39.1%.
His agreement was a discretionary commission agreement (DCA).
He noted that car dealer John Clark Aberdeen did not conduct proper credit checks to determine whether he could afford the monthly payments of £157, which he struggled to keep up with.
“It was stressful – I found it hard to manage the car loan,” he said.
“I tried to save on my phone bills. If the car needed repairs or an MOT, I had to borrow money from friends. It was very humiliating.”
“I wouldn’t want to take this loan because of the interest rate.”
