The government plans to increase teachers' salaries to 28 thousand: details of the initiative.
According to inkorr.com: In Ukraine, teachers earn significantly less than their colleagues in Europe. According to the head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Serhiy Babak, the average salary of educators is only 60-70% of the national average salary, which corresponds to 14-16 thousand hryvnias. This situation negatively affects the prestige of the teaching profession and contributes to decreased motivation.
Problems of young teachers
Especially difficult is the situation for young educators, who at the beginning of their careers receive only 8-9 thousand hryvnias due to lack of experience. Such a low salary reduces the attractiveness of the profession, leading to staff turnover and complicating the work of educational institutions.
Prospects for change
However, positive prospects for change have emerged in Ukraine. Serhiy Babak has initiated an amendment to the draft state budget for 2026, which provides for an increase in teachers' salaries to 19-28 thousand hryvnias. This could be an important step towards restoring the prestige of the profession and stimulating specialists in the field of education.
Changes in the financial support for teachers could significantly improve the situation in education. If the amendment is accepted, it will not only raise salaries but also attract new specialists to this important field, which, in turn, will positively affect the quality of education and the upbringing of the young generation.
