Cancellation of the discount on meals in kindergartens
The government of Ukraine has made the decision to cancel the 50% discount on meals for families with many children in kindergartens. This means that the cost of meals for each child will increase by 800 hryvnias. The decision was the result of canceling the decree that had been in effect since 2002, for over 20 years. Now parents whose children attend kindergartens will not be able to rely on a meal discount. However, the government has also introduced new benefits for most of these families. This includes a one-time payment for parents of first-graders, as well as increased payments to women after the birth of a child. The changes introduced can significantly impact the budget of parents from large families, as the increase in costs for meals in kindergartens is unlikely to be satisfactory within the overall expenses of raising children. At the same time, the new payments may partially offset these costs. The situation indicates the need for a balanced approach to supporting families with children under the current economic conditions.Read also
