Budget Deficit of Ukraine 2026: How It Is Planned to Be Covered.
According to inkorr.com: The state budget deficit of Ukraine for 2026-2027 may amount to approximately 60 billion dollars. This information was announced by Deputy Minister of Finance Oleksandr Kava during the Kyiv Security Forum. The publication 'Hvylya' reported this citing information from Ukrinform.
'When we were preparing the budget project for this year, we had a clear idea of how to cover the state budget deficit,' said Kava.
Kava added that planning expenses for 2026 will be more complex than in the current year. The situation is reminiscent of 2024, when international partners were reluctant to provide funding, hoping for a quick end to the war.
New Funding Pathways
The Ministry of Finance is actively seeking new ways to support the budget and is developing appropriate financial mechanisms. One option is the use of frozen Russian assets located in Belgium. Kava noted that this issue is being discussed with the European Union.
'Unfortunately, the position of the United States regarding financial assistance to Ukraine has changed, but European and other partners remain optimistic and are trying to assist us in addressing the problems,' he emphasized.
The Deputy Minister of Finance also noted that the state budget of Ukraine for the coming years plans to adjust the deficit, and the Ministry of Finance continues to work on new funding methods, including the possibility of using frozen Russian assets.
Therefore, Ukraine needs to find effective solutions to overcome financial challenges in the context of armed conflict. International support, particularly active negotiations with the European Union and other partner countries, will play an important role in this process. We can only hope that new funding mechanisms will help balance the budget and ensure economic stability in the country.
