According to The Sun: Usain Bolt expressed his views on the possibility of his world sprint records being broken.

Bolt, who is 39 years old, is the most successful sprinter in history, having set records in the 100 and 200 meters at the World Athletics Championships in Berlin 16 years ago.

His 100-meter sprint lasted an astonishing 9.58 seconds, while he completed the 200 meters in 19.19 seconds.

Since then, only one other sprinter – Jamaican Yohan Blake – has come close to these records, being the only one to run 100 meters in less than 9.7 seconds and 200 meters in less than 19.3 seconds.

Currently, sprinters such as American Noah Lyles and Jamaican Kishane Thompson are dominating. Lyles won gold in the 100 meters at the Paris Olympics with a time of 9.79 seconds, while Thompson took silver and set a personal record of 9.75 seconds in June this year.

Bolt's attitude towards his records

Ahead of the World Athletics Championships starting this Saturday in Tokyo, Bolt stated that his records are not under threat.

“No, I am not worried. I believe that talent exists, there will be talented athletes who come and show good results. But at this moment, I do not see any athlete who could break my record, so I am not worried.”

Bolt also shared his thoughts on who he thinks will win the 100 meters final on Sunday, backing Jamaican sprinters Thompson and Oblique Seville to finish ahead of Lyles.

On young sprinters

Additionally, he was asked about promising sprinter Gut Gut, who at just 17 years old has already run 100 meters in under 10 seconds and 200 meters in under 19.9 seconds.

“It is always easier when you are younger. The transition from juniors to seniors is always more challenging. It is crucial to have the right coach and the right people around you.”
“Everything evolves in life; people strive to become better, to try to become faster. It will not be a surprise if that really happens.”
