Ustenko predicts the price of the dollar in 2025.
Economist Oleg Ustenko, former advisor to the President of Ukraine (2019-2024), shared his forecasts regarding the exchange rate and the state of Ukraine's gold and foreign exchange reserves for the next year.
According to Ustenko, the exchange rate next year will remain within the limits programmed in the state budget for 2025. He also noted that the chances of this are quite high. The expected average rate is about 45 hryvnia per dollar.
Ustenko emphasized that the current volume of Ukraine's gold and foreign exchange reserves of $42 billion plays an important role in ensuring the stability of the exchange rate.
"If we were not talking about a wartime economy, but about an economy in peacetime, I would say that the indicator of foreign exchange reserves is more than sufficient to feel protected from any exchange rate fluctuations," the economist said.
Ustenko believes that international partners will continue to support Ukraine's gold and foreign exchange reserves at the current level to ensure economic stability.
Despite optimistic forecasts, the economist believes that the National Bank of Ukraine should expedite the transition to a more flexible exchange rate formation. In his opinion, the economy of gold and foreign exchange reserves, despite their huge volume, is an important factor in ensuring the stability of exporters and the overall economy.
Recall that earlier the Ministry of Finance explained the conditions under which Ukraine will receive €35 billion from the EU.
