Pyramid-Like Peaks Found in Antarctica Spark Debate Among Scientists.
A Surprising Discovery in the Ice
According to TSN.ua: Using Google Earth, researcher Jay Anderson identified formations in Antarctica that bear a striking resemblance to Egyptian pyramids. Located in the southern Ellsworth Mountains, the find has ignited speculation about lost ancient civilizations or even extraterrestrial activity. However, scientists firmly argue that these mountain shapes are the product of natural erosion, not the work of alien hands.
The central structure spotted by Anderson rises approximately 1,370 meters. In addition to this largest pyramid-like summit, the researcher found two smaller, similarly shaped formations. The arrangement of these three peaks mirrors the layout of the Pyramids of Giza—Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure. Yet geologists maintain that these rocky features have been shaped over hundreds of millions of years.
What Experts Say
Expert Nigel Watson weighed in on the discovery, stating:
These are mountain formations created by moving glaciers and erosion, not by aliens with lasers. — Nigel Watson
He explained that mountains form through frost weathering, where water and snow seep into rock cracks. When the water freezes, it expands and breaks off pieces of rock, leading to the distinctive mountain shapes we see.
Jay Anderson's find and the subsequent expert commentary highlight the need for a scientific approach when interpreting unusual geological formations. Despite the sensational nature of the topic, it is essential to rely on facts and research that explain natural phenomena. Studying such structures can also play a key role in understanding Earth's geological history and the processes that shape its landscape.
