According to the Institute for the Study of War, the Kremlin is attempting to take advantage of the conflict in the Middle East to promote international structures where Russia is a dominant force.

Particular attention is paid to the Kremlin's efforts to create a "Eurasian security architecture" as an alternative to existing structures.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov condemned the ground operation of the Israel Defense Forces in southern Lebanon during a meeting with the Lebanese ambassador to Russia on October 1. He emphasized that Russia opposes what it calls Israeli political assassinations.

The Russian Ambassador to Israel Anatoly Viktorov called for an immediate cessation of the conflict in the Middle East, and the Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with ambassadors of unspecified Arab states and urged the immediate cessation of military operations in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict zone.

"The Kremlin likely seeks to leverage the conflict in the Middle East to promote international structures dominated by Russia, including some related to the Kremlin's efforts to create an alternative "Eurasian security architecture," stated the ISW publication.

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov reported that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas accepted Russia's invitation to participate in the BRICS summit in Kazan from October 22 to 24. The meeting will be dedicated to discussing the situation in the Middle East.
