In Ukraine, a Record Surge in Egg Prices is Being Monitored.
The Antimonopoly Committee is Investigating the Rise in Egg Prices
The Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine (AMCU) has started an investigation into the sharp increase in egg prices in October 2024. The agency has sent official requests to egg producers, feed manufacturers, and market participants to determine the reasons for the price hike. This was reported by 'Socportal'.
AMCU experts emphasize the similarity of the current situation to the price changes in September-October 2022. The Committee will conduct a comprehensive analysis of the entire chain – from production to sale.
Expert Oleg Vyshnyakov explained the reasons for the increase. Among them are issues with electricity supply, rising costs for heating and maintaining poultry farms, as well as increased feed prices.
According to preliminary estimates, prices for basic food products may continue to rise in the coming months. The AMCU promises to publish the results of the investigation and clarify whether the price increase was objectively justified.
