A points-based penalty system for drivers will be introduced in Ukraine: what awaits violators.
Introduction of the points-based penalty system for drivers in Ukraine
According to inkorr.com: Ukraine plans to introduce a new points-based penalty system for drivers, which provides for punishment for violations of the Traffic Regulations. Those who systematically ignore the rules may lose their driver's license for a certain period.
According to an official, this system, which successfully operates in European Union countries, aims to increase discipline on the roads and impact undisciplined drivers. The essence of the initiative is that for each violation, drivers will receive penalty points.
Volodymyr Kreidenko, a government official, stated that the goal of this initiative is to show drivers that their actions have real consequences. Depending on the number of points accumulated, drivers may find themselves without the right to drive a car.
Moreover, Ukrainians who have been in Poland for more than six months are required to exchange their national driver's licenses for Polish ones. Failure to comply with this requirement may result in a fine. Drivers have also been warned about fines for using mobile phones while driving without special devices.
At the same time, Ukrainian courts are canceling speeding fines recorded using TruCAM devices if they are held by inspectors. Motorists can also observe new series of license plates that are assigned online and do not have geographical restrictions.
The introduction of the points-based penalty system could significantly change approaches to road safety in Ukraine. This initiative, which has already proven itself in other countries, aims to increase driver responsibility and reduce the number of traffic accidents. Whether it will affect the attitudes of Ukrainian motorists will be seen over time.
