Earthquake in Chernivtsi Region
On the evening of Wednesday, October 23rd, an earthquake was recorded in Chernivtsi region at a depth of 3 kilometers. This was reported by the Main Center of Special Control on Facebook.
According to the report, the earthquake occurred at 18:08:04 in the territory of Chernivtsi region. The magnitude was 3.1 on the Richter scale, and the epicenter was located at a depth of 3 kilometers.
“The earthquake's focus is located near the village of Lomachyntsi, Dnistrovskyi district, Chernivtsi region”, the report states.
According to the classification, this earthquake is considered felt.
Experts note that the tremors are mostly felt by people inside buildings, while in open spaces they can only be felt under certain conditions. The tremors are similar to those that occur when a light truck moves.
The last earthquake in this region occurred on November 23rd last year, and its magnitude was 2.0 points.
Recall that on October 8, 2024, an earthquake with a magnitude of 3.3 points occurred near Kryvyi Rih in Ukraine.
Earlier, on September 1st at 05:50:56, the Main Center of Special Control registered an earthquake near the Crimean Peninsula. The source of the earthquake is located in the eastern part of the Black Sea, 20 kilometers southeast of the coastline of the Crimean Peninsula, at a depth of 6 km. The earthquake poses no threat to the population of Ukraine.
Later, on the morning of October 4, residents of southern Odessa region felt an earthquake that occurred in Romania.
By the way, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 occurred on Monday at 17:40 in the area of Vrancea County in eastern Romania.
