NBU has issued a coin in honor of Nila Kasevych: where to buy the novelty.
According to ТСН: The National Bank of Ukraine has started selling a new coin with a face value of 2 hryvnias, dedicated to the prominent Ukrainian graphic artist Nila Kasevych, who was an active participant in the underground movement.
This commemorative coin marks the contribution of Nila Kasevych - an artist who created the design for 'bofons', which were money receipts featuring national symbols and emblems of Ukrainian liberation movements. These 'money' were used to support the army in a form resembling modern donations and served as propaganda materials. For his activities, Kasevych faced persecution from the Soviet authorities and was killed.
What does the coin look like?
The coin is made of nickel silver (an alloy of copper, nickel, and zinc), has a ribbed edge, and its mintage is 50,000 pieces. The realization takes place in special packaging.
Obverse (front side): on the front side of the coin, there is a self-portrait of Nila Kasevych, nearby is the small State Emblem of Ukraine, the year of minting (2025), as well as the inscriptions "UKRAINE", "NILA KASEVYCH", and the denomination with the graphic symbol for hryvnias.
Reverse (back side): the reverse side features a symbolic composition styled as a banknote, inspired by UPA 'bofons', containing elements of Kasevych's graphics. At the top on a matte background, there are the inscriptions: "FOR THE FREEDOM OF PEOPLES AND MAN", "300 KRB", and "FOR THE COMBAT FUND".
Where and when to buy the new 2 hryvnias
The sale of the coin has already started at the National Bank. Its price is 154 hryvnias. The commemorative coin can also be purchased at distributing banks:
- PrivatBank

- TAScombank
- PUMB
It is worth noting that the realization by distributing banks will happen gradually, as coins arrive from the NBU Banknote and Coin Printing Works. It is recommended to obtain additional information on sales conditions from the official websites of these financial institutions.
Let us remind you that the Ukrainian commemorative coin "Country of Superheroes. Thank you, doctors!" won the category "Most Inspiring Coin" and entered the top 10 of the Coin of the Year contest. The NBU put it into circulation on July 26, 2024, as part of the series "Immortal My Ukraine". This coin with a nominal value of 5 UAH, made of nickel silver with a mintage of up to 50,000 pieces, features symbolic images dedicated to the doctors who save lives.
The novelty will not only be a significant contribution to the memory of Nila Kasevych but also a wonderful object for collection. Commemorative coins in Ukraine have always sparked interest, as they can become a part of the history we can preserve and pass on to future generations.
