The Verkhovna Rada is considering a bill on deferment for students: who will lose the right.
According to inkorr.com: In Ukraine, it has been explained which students and college students may lose their deferral from mobilization. The National Security and Defense Committee of the Verkhovna Rada reviewed bill No. 13634, which concerns the rights of education workers and students during wartime. The main goal of this bill is to support the educational sector while preventing evasion of conscription during studies.
The goal of the bill is to find a balance between the needs of the educational system and the requirements of mobilization. The main idea is to preserve state support for education while simultaneously closing loopholes for evasion of military service through education.
According to the new proposals, students of vocational and higher education will receive deferment if they started their studies before the age of 25, study full-time or in a dual format, and obtain higher education than previously attained. University students will only have deferment if they are obtaining higher education for the first time and study full-time or dual, in accordance with the established requirements.
Innovations for scientists and teachers
Additionally, it is proposed to provide deferment for scientists and teachers who hold scientific degrees and work at educational institutions or scientific establishments for at least 0.75 of a full-time position. The authors of the bill hope that these changes will improve the quality of education, stimulate deep knowledge acquisition, and prevent the use of education as a mechanism for evasion of military service.
The determination of who may lose their deferral from mobilization aims to create a balance between educational needs and fulfilling military duty. The state seeks to avoid situations where education becomes a profitable means of evading service in the Armed Forces, improving the quality of education, and ensuring the safety of the country.
