Legislation on Deferment for Military Personnel

According to Novyny.live: The Ukrainian parliament, the Verkhovna Rada, is set to consider a bill that would provide a significant break for soldiers. This legislation, known as Draft Law No. 14283, is scheduled for review on February 10. It specifically applies to those who have served a one-year contract under the '18–24' mobilization program, guaranteeing them a 12-month deferment from any further call-up to defense or security forces.

Statement from a Member of Parliament

Fedor Venislavsky, a Member of Parliament from the 'Servant of the People' party and a member of the parliamentary Committee on National Security, Defense, and Intelligence, expressed optimism that the bill will be passed this week. He stated:

'I believe that this plenary week we will adopt this draft law, and the young people who have served for one year will have the right to 12 months of rest and will not be mobilized again into any security and defense force centers.' - Fedor Venislavsky

If passed, this law would allow servicemen and women who have fulfilled their duty a crucial opportunity to rest and reintegrate into civilian life. This initiative is part of broader efforts to support the well-being of troops and their families during a prolonged conflict. The guaranteed deferment is seen as a vital step in reforming social support for Ukraine's military, potentially boosting morale and reducing the psychological burden on those who have endured extended periods of service. By providing a clear period for recovery, the law aims to facilitate a more successful transition back to civilian society.
